After beginning law school, I realized that I did not want to follow the traditional path. It seems that all too often our institutions proscribe a path for us. For Law School, it was grades, what firm you were going to, and when you were going to make partner. After a short time at the law school, I knew I would be taking a different route. I applied to the dual degree program in the fall of 2010, and began my MBA studies in the fall of 2011. I went from a world of set rules and norms, to a world of creativity and possibility.
Upon entering Mason, I realized I had found the place I needed to be and had been seeking. Mason has allowed me to meet individuals who have similar dreams and aspirations. From speaking with accomplished entrepreneurs, to professors who are more than happy to share their knowledge and contacts, I began to gain the knowledge and confidence to strive for what I really want out of life. I will never forget sitting in one of the program days, and hearing from a man who turned 25,000 dollars into a ten-million-dollar company within a year. Immediately a light bulb went on. These people were not only achieving financial success, they were doing what they wanted, how they wanted, and when they wanted.
After spending only a few months in the program, two fellow students and I founded our own LLC. We are currently working on several projects, and have received so much support from the faculty at Mason. Everyone, from students, to professors, wants to see everyone else succeed here. This environment is refreshing and truly pushes you to think out of the box. I am grateful everyday that I decided to attend Mason and truly feel it will contribute to any success that I may have in the future.
