A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to visit the Allan B. Miller Hall.  Miller Hall will be the new home of the Mason School of Business starting this fall.

While, Miller Hall is technically still under construction with over a 100 workers still on sight putting on the finishing touches, it’s really easy to see that the building will provide for an excellent learning environment for those who have the privilege of studying there.

What impressed me most about Miller Hall was that it is the perfect blend of state of the art technology and sustainability initiatives.  Miller Hall was designed and built to be LEED Silver certified and from what Project Manager Rex Holmlin  told me, Miller Hall might make a Gold certification. Congratulations on that Rex!

Miller Hall has several unique new features. The one that stood out the most was the classroom with a seating arrangement completely different from those found in traditional classrooms. The classroom has been built keeping in mind that most a lot of the work students do in class is done in teams. The room has been structured so that students could go from looking at a professor teaching at the blackboard to working in teams by simply swiveling their chairs and finding themselves at kidney bean-shaped team study tables.

Another cool feature at Miller Hall is that the classrooms will be equipped with video cameras, so that after each class a video of the class can be posted for students to review.

I believe that the Allan B. Miller Hall will take the Mason Experience a few notches higher and will provide future batches with an excellent learning environment.
