The Mason School is just about to enter a new and exciting stage of its evolution in its new home at Alan B. Miller Hall, and now is the most important time for all Mason students, faculty and alumni to contribute to this outstanding blog.
I know that our Class of 2009 just graduated, the economy is not ideal and that it’s the summer, and therefore, blogging does not stand out as a top priority. However, blogging for Mason is very important and mutually beneficial for it not only builds the school’s brand and online presence, but also strengthens your own personal brand.
How does it build the Mason brand?
Your articles add undeterminable value to Mason’s marketing outreach and efforts. With a limited budget, Mason can only promote itself through so many marketing and PR events and activities. It is up to us, the members of the Mason community, to give back in any way possible.
The beauty of blogging is that it offers such an easy way to do so. The more Mason bloggers that contribute, the less “work” each individual has to do and the more involved and invested our community becomes in the school’s future and prosperity.
This increased connectivity, involvement and investment will quickly become apparent and will directly communicate the strength of our program and its people to prospective students, potential donors and other key stakeholders in our community.
How does it build your brand?
By blogging for Mason, you are publishing your personal involvement in the school and its continued growth and success. Your customers, employers and other stakeholders in your career will value that you give back to your school as it shows that you invest yourself for the long term and go beyond what is expected of you.
Blogging also gives you the opportunity to establish and communicate your expertise within a specific area and can serve as a reference to your personal brand and value and can even lead to networking and career opportunities inside and outside of the Mason community.
I recommend that all Masonites ready to do a little brand building contact the program staff and get onboard!

Not to forget blogging is a great SEO tool and can make our school, community and brand more visible and “SEARCHABLE” in the world wide web
