My name is Chris Tatum, I received my MBA from the Mason School of Business in the spring of 2007 and soon thereafter moved out to Colorado.  I currently live in Boulder and work at McKesson Corporation in the Horizon Clinicals division.  As I’ve only been working here for a little over a year, I decided I would briefly talk about my job search experience.

I was a bit scared when I first moved out west (young man) because I had very few job leads and didn’t really know anyone in Colorado except for my girlfriend.

Nevertheless, I was able to land multiple interviews and had a full-time job offer within three months (during that time, Prof. Ron Hess may get a kick out of the fact that I was a salesman for one day).  I attribute much of my success to all of the practice I did at the Mock Interview Fairs, but those three letters that come after my name sure make a big impression too.

In all seriousness though, my soft skills were significantly improved having gone through the MBA program at W&M.  There’s definitely something to be said for conveying sincerity when introducing yourself for the 33rd time and then writing all of those obligatory “thank you” emails.
