May was a busy month for the EMBA and Flex programs as we took the MBA for Working Professionals on the road. On May 1st, I attended a college day event at Newport News Shipbuilding.
The event was sponsored by the shipyard and encouraged employees to stop by the event to inquire about furthering their education. We had over 20 people stop by the table and express an interest in the Flex MBA program.
On May 8th, the team traveled to Norfolk to host a Professional Development for HR Professionals breakfast. Professor Inga Carboni presented “Social Networks” to the guests that attended. Kim Mallory spent May 14-16 in Virginia Beach at the 2013 Joint Warfighters Conference.
Suffolk was the destination for the May 30th “Mingle on the Street” Hampton Roads Chamber event. All the events kept the team out recruiting and proudly talking about the MBA programs here at the Mason School of Business and the College of William & Mary.
On the evening of June 6th , from 5 to 7 p.m., the Mason School of Business Alumni department hosted an Alumni Networking reception for Flex MBA alumni, current students, faculty and guests. The event was well attended with over 85 people enjoying the festivities at the Peninsula Center in Newport News. Dean Pulley joined us and gave a warm greeting to all, as well as Assistant Dean Deborah Hewitt.
Associate Dean Bud Robeson was also in attendance. Faculty that teach in the program were there to greet the guests along with Flex MBA team; Carlane Pittman, Amy Blackburn, Kim Mallory and myself. Brenda Duncan and Kellie Minor represented the Alumni department.
There were many stories shared about the Flex MBA journey and a good time was enjoyed by all. The director of the Flex MBA program, Mallory, encouraged the alumni to stay connected to the Mason School of Business and let us know what we can do to keep that connection strong.
